Transcending Language: Nonliterary Russian, Speech Acoustics and Rap Phonetics

  • In Russian

Together with the speaker, we will consider the changing modern Russian language. We will listen to recordings from the thirties, as well as modern music and decide who is the enemy of the Russian language.

We will discuss Russian dialects: how they sound, why they are like that, why they do not disappear for so long.

We will talk about acoustic analysis of speech. Furthermore, we will consider speech recognition and generation, how philologists read the acoustic spectrum and find out why humanities need acoustic physics.
